D. Vedavyas Kamath
D. Vedavyas Kamath is a member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. He was elected from Mangaluru City South constituency, in Dakshina Kannada in 2017. Mr. Vedavyas Kamath was born on 7th December, 1977 in Kundapura to Mr. Vaman Kamath and Mrs. Tara V Kamath. He completed his primary and highschool in Canara School and his BCom from Canara College, Mangaluru. Mr. Kamath joined RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) at a young age and adopted discipline in his life. He was influenced by the elders in his family who always showed a helping hand to the less-fortunate in the society. He is the founder of Sevanjali Charitable Trust. Mr. Vedavyas Kamath is an active member of the Bharatiya Janatha Party and has served as the general secretary of the Mangalore South Constituency.

Initiatives by the MLA

Vocal for Local Mangalore
Under this initiative, the MLA will promote brands based out of Mangalore on his Facebook and Instagram page where he has over 1.5lakh followers. “We will win by helping each other…” he wrote in a Twitter post. The second series of Vocal for Local posts will be starting shortly.
Temple Tourism
Under this initiative, the MLA had decided to keep posting about religious spots in Mangalore and Tulunad Region time to time and has requested the public to share the posts. This will not only promote tourism but also help local businesses.

Plastic Free Kudla
The MLA requested hoteliers and catering services of Mangalore to replace plastic with banana leaf for packing food and to use eco-friendly containers. He has also requested the citizens of Mangalore to carry cloth bags to shops and to avoid using plastic bags which is harmful to the environment.

No Horn Wednesday
This initiative by MLA Vedavyas Kamath was aimed at tackling noise pollution in Mangalore. Many vehicles owners have voluntarily pasted the sticker to their vehicle in support of the initiative. The MLA has sought the support of the bus owners and rickshaw owners association.
