D. VEDAVYAS KAMATH

Vedavyas Kamath is a member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, India. He was elected from Mangaluru City South constituency in Dakshina Kannada in 2018.  Mr. Vedavyas Kamath is an active member of the Bharatiya Janatha Party.

Early Life

Shri D Vedavyas Kamath was born on December 7, 1977 in Kundapura to Mr D Vaman Kamath and Mrs Tara  V Kamath. He has an elder brother, an elder sister, and a younger sister. He completed his primary and high school education in Canara School. He completed his BCom from Canara College, Mangalore. Mr. Kamath joined the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangha (RSS) in his childhood days as a volunteer and developed discipline from the activities of the sangha. He was influenced by the elders in his family who always showed a helping hand to the less fortunate in society.

Political Career

Mr Kamath is an active member of Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) party and served for a year as the general secretary of Mangalore South constituency. Through his active participation in the activities of BJP, he successfully fetched a ticket from BJP party to contest the elections. In 2017, he was elected as Member of Legislative Assembly, Government of Karnataka by a record number of 86,545 votes.

Social Work

Mr. Vedavyas Kamath constituted Sevanjali Charitable Trust with the intention of serving the poor and helpless. This trust has been functioning for the last 17 years. The trust supports more than 70 elderly people with monthly contributions to their bank account,  school fees to the poor as well those who perform well in academics, and hospital expenses for the poor. Blood donation camps are conducted several times every year. Mr. Kamath through his Sevangali Charitable Trust completed the herculean task of matching ‘ Stem Cells ‘ for a needy child, from Mumbai. 

Mr. Kamath is known for his social work, religious work, and other nation-building activities. His active participation and involvement are seen in Padavinangadi Ganeshostsava, Anna Santarpane by Mangala Cashew industries, Bhatkala Ganapathi temple, Car street Venkatramana Temple etc.. He is also the director of Bhuvanendra Cooperative Bank Mangalore. He has served as director of the Digantha Press.

His Sevanjali Trust has adopted Kadalakere Government School, Moodbidri, where more than 150 economically poor students are studying. He has also renovated the Siddapura Venkataramana Education Trust at Kundpaura. More than 700 students are studying in that school. 

Personal Life

D Vedavyas Kamath is married to Mrs. Vrinda Kamath and has two children Varun and Vedanth.
